Purpose of this report

Factiverse shares the findings of the world’s first live fact-checking initiative for a United States presidential debate on June 27th, 2024, in this report. This report was constructed based on our live fact-checking product which is currently in its alpha stage. Factiverse strives to be the backbone of global credibility. Our interdisciplinary team comprises journalists, researchers, and scientific writers. We have independently developed our technology, adhering to rigorous ethical, journalistic, and research principles.

Factiverse is not the sole arbiter of truth. Our mission is to empower you, the audience, with the capacity to grasp intricate subjects rapidly. We provide essential context and nuanced perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of the issues. Hence with these values in mind, this report has taken some time to develop to ensure that the numbers being presented are accurate and relevant

Executive Summary

According to an analysis by The Washington Post, former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden deliveredvarying degrees of misleading statements in their first 100 days in office, with Biden making 78 false or misleading statements compared to 511 by Trump during that period.

That analysis highlights significant disparities in misleading statements between the two administrations, underscoring the necessity for vigilant fact-checking.

Ahead of the debate,  The New York Times wrote that “60 Times journalists will be on hand Thursday night to offer context, insight, photos, reactions and fact-checking.” This report details the results of real-time fact-checking by Factiverse, which identified  757 claims that warranted ratification using its patented technology, developed and supported by a team of ten people.

Fact check analysis summary

During the 90 minute debate, we identified 757 claims.

Factiverse found 691 were made by the candidates and were deemed fact-check-worthy.

316 of those claims were supported.

375 were disputed by multiple credible sources.

66 claims were made by the moderators in the form of questions to both candidates.
